An intoxicated man in Sri Lanka's Udawalawe National Park has given the phrase 'pick on someone your own size' a whole new meaning after narrowly escaping death by elephant trampling. Much to the astonishment and horror of the onlooking crowd, he made the drunken mistake of antagonising the animal, getting closer and closer until the elephant finally charged.
Though the man reportedly escaped with just a torn ear to remind him of his stupidity (he should be counting his lucky stars!), we're hoping the multi-tonne ellie has taught him a valuable lesson on why harassing wildlife is a very bad (and dangerous) idea. (Top header image: Brett Davies/Flickr)
