The beautiful shoreline of San Diego in California has been taken over by an unusually large gathering of out-of-towners: anchovies ... millions and millions of anchovies. As if aerial footage of the scaly swarm wasn't cool enough, this video from Lepechinia takes you under the surface for a dive with the biggest aggregation of anchovies California has seen in nearly 30 years.
According to scientists at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, it is still unclear why the massive school moved into shallow waters, but it certainly has everyone (including the local sea lion population) very excited.
