Upon crossing paths with several bizarre yellow balls on the ocean floor, scientists aboard the research vessel Nautilus couldn't resist the urge to give one an investigative poke. A quick twitch from the little 'tennis ball' revealed it to be a burrowing worm from the family Terebellidae.
Terebellid worms are often called 'spaghetti worms' because of the noodle-like tentacles (here seen in yellow) they use to collect food particles ... looks like this one was busy enjoying some snack time.
