His name is Big Bird and he's a rescued great white pelican who's steadily racking up his air miles. Rescued after a big storm hit Lake Tanganyika in Tanzania and separated him from the rest of his flock, Big Bird (as he's since been named) was nursed back to health by staff at Greystoke Mahale. Only about three months old when he was rescued, the pelican needed some flying lessons to get him up into the air once he was fit enough – and he got some courtesy of his human flight instructors. And thanks to a GoPro camera that staff strapped onto his beak, you get to see Big Bird soar!
