Ever eaten something so delicious it made you want to dive into a vat of it? This gull has.
The Vale Wildlife Hospital and Rehabilitation Center (VHRC) shared a video of the feathery gourmand in question, who plopped into a vat of chicken tikka masala curry whilst scrounging the garbage bins at a UK food factory. The bird emerged marinated to a glorious shade of Cheetos orange – and started a squall of bad puns in the process.
"I don’t think any of us have experienced such an orange greasy gull to deal with before… but boy did he smell good!” says staff member Caroline Gould.
Vet staff noticed that the bird – who has been nicknamed both "korma the gull" and "gullfrezi" – was a bit malnourished upon arrival, which might explain his enthusiastic curry binge. The colourful patient since been put on a weight-gaining diet of meat and pet food (after receiving a mighty good scrub).
"We’ve cleaned him up and he is doing well, with no upset tummy!" says Gould. "Hopefully he’ll stick to a much more bland diet in the future!"
The gull will soon be transferred to an outdoor aviary, where his feathers will be re-waterproofed using natural oils. All's well that ends well. If the bird is anything like myself, he has zero regrets.
