Okay, we know this video is a little old, but with the 2014 Soccer World Cup final just around the corner we felt it was only appropriate that we repost it. We can't tell you where this was filmed or who gave this playful kudu a toy soccer ball, but we're pretty glad it happened. Uploaded in 2010, our best guess is that the video hails from previous host-nation South Africa (and judging by the low-quality footage, it's possible that the clip pre-dates HD-equipped smart phones).
Interestingly this video isn't the only instance where kudus and soccer intersect. The distinctive curved horn of the kudu is the traditional influence behind South Africa's (in)famous vuvuzela – those plastic-moulded horns popular at the 2010 World Cup for their ability to permanently damage the hearing of the unfortunate fan sitting in the adjoining stadium seat. The inspiration for the modern vuvuzela comes from a similar instrument crafted from a kudu horn and used to summon villagers to community gatherings.
Regardless of the video's origin, the kudu definitely seems to be having a ball (see what we did there?). Although we'd have to argue that this majestic antelope looks a little less majestic when sporting an over-sized soccer ball for a headdress.
