Watch: Polar bear plays with filmmaker’s drone
Meet "Peanut", the drone-loving polar bear.
4 years agoWhile capturing scenic shots of the Australian countryside recently, trainee drone operator Adam Lancaster learnt the hard way why you shouldn’t fly too close to birds of prey when a wedge-tailed eagle swooped in at full speed to knock his drone out of the sky. The raptor appeared unscathed following the incident and according to Lancaster it “hovered over to make sure we had learned our lesson.”
Not as much can be said of the drone that required at least $100 in repairs after the crash-landing. Lancaster has urged other drone pilots to learn from the clip and avoid sharing airspace with birds of prey. "Do not fly drones near birds of prey," Lancaster wrote on the Melbourne Aerial Video YouTube page. "They clearly attack seeing you as a threat or the right-sized dinner."
